Pine nuts
Pine nuts are a food product with very high nutritional value, obtained by breaking the hard shells removed from the cones of the stone pine (Pinus pinea). This tree, which grows in all Mediterranean countries, is a large-crowned pine species that can grow up to 20 m in height with an umbrella appearance. Cone production begins after the age of 20. In Turkish cuisine, it is used as an ingredient in pilaf, stuffed vegetables and halvah.
